In Italy the ownership of the pharmacy can be a pharmacist or a society formed by pharmacists who can manage a maximum of four establishments and all in the same health area. Italy was one of the countries protagonists of the judgments of Luxembourg in favor of the States maintaining the pharmaceutical model that they consider in front of the prejudicial question issued by a national court, which asked about the legality of the binomial ownership-property. Ownership and planning as well, and as an indigenous characteristic of Italy, in this country there are two types of pharmacy: the municipal pharmacy (of a public nature) and the private pharmacy (pharmacy office). However, the new competition law that includes the liberalization of the ownership of pharmacies is under parliamentary procedure.
