Desloratadine is an antihistamine drug used to treat allergies.
It is mostly used to relieve hay fever, sneezing; nasal discharge, red, watery or itchy eyes. It is also used to treat hives. It works by counteracting the release of histamine (the main substance of urticaria).
Desloratadine is taken orally, usually once a day with or without food. It comes in the form of regular and disintegrable tablets. You must carefully follow the instructions on the medication label and ask your doctor or pharmacist any questions that arise. Use the medication exactly as directed.
To take the orally disintegrable tablet, verify that your hands are dry before opening the package. Take the tablet immediately, place it on your tongue and drink some water (you can also do it without drinking water). Some of the side effects that it could cause (although they are not very frequent) are:
- Headache
- Muscle pain.
- Sore throat.
- Dizziness
- Stomach problems.
- Dryness in the mouth.
- Tiredness
- Painful menstruation.

To store it correctly, you must, like other medications, keep it out of sight and reach of children, because many containers (such as weekly pill boxes, and those containing eye drops, creams, patches and inhalers) ) are not child-proof, who can easily open them.
