How do I know if I am suffering from panic disorder? Know its effects.

Panic disorder often occurs when there is no family history.

Panic disorder is twice as common in women as in men. The cause is unknown, although genes may play a role in this disorder. An attack usually lasts from 5 to 20 minutes. If these attacks happen often, they are called panic disorder.

People with panic disorder have sudden and frequent attacks, a lot of fear, discomfort, feeling out of control, even when there is no real danger or clear trigger. Panic attack can cause physical symptoms, including chest pain, rapid heartbeat, and shortness of breath.

Panic attacks are extremely uncomfortable, they are not dangerous. However, they are difficult to control on their own and can get worse if left untreated. The specialist who treats panic attacks is the Psychiatrist or the Psychologist.

After the panic attack passes you can be exhausted, exhausted and very sleepy, since the energy that the body consumes during it is quite high. In the same way, the fear of death or that another similar attack may occur again.

CAUSES:

This disease could be of hereditary origin, however, it is not known with certainty why some people in a family group suffer from it and others do not.

Scientists are also investigating how stress and environmental factors affect this disorder.

SYMPTOMS:

  • Difficulty overcoming problems or making decisions.
  • Abnormal anxiety or excessive concern for one or more issues.
  • Fast or slow thinking.
  • Very extreme mood swings.
  • Anger, touchiness with friends, relatives or partner.
  • Stop sharing with people or situations you used to enjoy.
  • Suffer from sleep disorders such as insomnia.
  • Having energy levels that are way below normal.
  • Using drugs or alcohol excessively.
  • Suffer sudden mood swings that affect your relationships.

IT IS RECOMMENDED:

  • Drink an infusion of valerian.
  • Stay with the person and remain calm.
  • Offer medicines if the person usually takes them during an attack.
  • Move the person to a quiet place.
  • Don’t make assumptions about what the person needs.
  • Talk to the person in short, simple phrases.

PREVENTION:

  • Reduce caffeine consumption and eliminate drugs and tobacco.
  • Do exercise
  • Avoid stressful situations

Valerian: is a plant recognized for its calming properties. Relaxes the central nervous system and allows to combat some symptoms.
